Revitalization of the former oil factory

The project included vast analysis of the architectural practice in sphere of amusement parks and theme parks specifically. Part of analysis was a functional and spatial program, based on the best built theme parks like Disneyland. As a result of analysis a combination of theme park and amusement park was created. The location is not typical for the objects of this type, as it is situated quite close to the center of the city, which also gives
a lot of advantages.
The park was called “Oil City” to emphasize this territory's roots to it's initial function, while authentic proportions and transition directions were maintained. The most valuable buildings of the former factory were conserved and revitalized. Among them are two biggest buildings near the main entrance to the factory, two chimneys and a water tower. First two of them were turned into sport complex which includes a skatepark and a basketball court, creating an entry entertainment zone of the park. Chimneys were used as a reinforced construction of the tower attractions like “Free fall” tower and high-rise carousel. The water tower was turned into a tower-aquarium, that contains 12.5 meters high aquarium and a restaurant on a newly added platform above existing volume. Each of the above mentioned buildings play a significant role in the park zones, for instance a water tower is a central object of the “Green Ocean” zone - a lighthouse, surrounded by wave-shape pavilions with the green roofs.
One of the new buildings in a theme park is an aquapark in a shape of a whale. It is a social magnet, so called “weenie”, in a “Paradise gulf” zone, supported by other compositional elements like roller coaster rides, imitating waves, and a skatepark facade imitating island rocks with waterfall. Internal space follows "open plan" fundamentals, while main zones are easily readable: technical and sanitary section on the basement floor, the pool hall on the ground floor and saunas on the first. A whale's tail is filled with the observation platform with water slides.
The main interior element is a diving pool in a shape of flower, which “grows” from the basement till the level of the first floor. A main hall also includes several recreational pools with artificial beach and a water bar, and a 25 m long sport pool.
